Release notes
SceneThread Camera is live — a camera that edits while you shoot
Our twelfth app is on the App Store, and it's the one we've wanted to make for a while. SceneThread Camera collapses the gap between shooting and editing: you hold the shutter to record a moment, release to make the cut, and keep going. Every clip lands as a colored thread on a live timeline, so you can see your film taking shape before you ever open an editor.
Most phone footage dies in the camera roll because the edit is a second, separate chore nobody does. SceneThread's premise is that capture is the first edit — if the cutting happens while you shoot, the film is basically done by the time you stop.
Capture, with real controls
It's a proper camera, not a toy: hold-to-record segmented capture, a photo mode that gives stills a slow push-in, and shot guides for Travel, Family, Food, Product and Event stories chosen while you frame. Under the hood there's lens-true and pinch zoom, 24/30/60 fps, manual exposure, focus and exposure lock, white balance, stabilization, zebras, a histogram and a horizon level. You can trigger the shutter from Camera Control, the volume buttons, supported AirPods — or an Apple Watch remote that starts, stops and switches cameras from your wrist.
A finished film in one tap
When you're done, Smart Finish reads every clip, keeps the strongest moments, skips the repeated takes, matches music to the mood and times the cuts to the beat — at 15, 30 or 60 seconds, in Cinematic, Energetic or Calm pacing. If you want to go deeper, the Cut, Look, Sound and Finish stages keep the advanced tools — trim, reorder, speed ramps, five looks with intensity, auto color match, sound mix — discoverable without a wall of controls.
The best camera edits itself enough that you actually finish the film — and gets out of the way when you want to finish it yourself.
Yours, on your device
SceneThread has no account and no server of ours: your footage and projects live on your device and in your photo library, and Smart Finish's analysis runs on-device — nothing is sent to us. As always with a camera, using it lawfully, including any consent needed to record other people, is up to you.
Try SceneThread CameraShoot a film that's already edited — on the App Store.
