Release notes
first10steps is live — our first Apple Watch app
Our fifth app is on the App Store, and it's the first one you can wear. first10steps is a step tracker for iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch built around one idea: the hardest part of a walk is the first ten steps.
Most fitness apps assume you already have momentum. They show you dashboards, zones and training loads — great if you're training, discouraging if you're starting. first10steps flips that. It celebrates the smallest possible win first, then helps you stack the next one on top.
What shipped in 1.0
- A daily goal ring that fills as you move, with your steps, distance and floors in one glance.
- Day streaks that reward showing up, not smashing records — a short evening walk keeps a streak alive.
- An AI coach that reads your day and nudges you at the right moment, like suggesting a quick walk when your streak is at risk.
- A weekly view so you can see the habit forming — seven bars, no spreadsheets.
- A full Apple Watch app, so the whole loop works from your wrist without touching your phone.
Why the Watch mattered
A habit app you have to remember to open is a contradiction. The Watch solves that: your steps count from your wrist, the ring is a glance away, and the nudge arrives where you'll actually feel it. Building for watchOS also forced us to cut everything non-essential — a constraint that made the iPhone app better too.
Momentum starts small. The app's only job is to make step one feel easy — every day.
What's next
We're already working on richer streak insurance, more coach personality, and iPad widgets. If you try first10steps and something feels off — or something clicks — tell us. Every one of our apps got better because someone wrote in.
